Georgia Prosecutors Are Appealing Young Thug's Victory in 2017 Traffic Stop Case

Last month, Thugger got a judge to agree with his legal team's argument that the initial traffic stop was suspect.

Less than a month after word came in that Young Thug had bagged quite the victory in his 2017 Georgia traffic stop case, prosecutors are said to be appealing that move.

Last month, you'll recall that a motion requested by Young Thug to suppress evidence in the case was granted, with Thugger's team arguing that the traffic stop that resulted in multiple drug charges was illegal. Furthermore, Thugger claimed that arresting officers did not read him his rights and thus any statements he made surrounding the arrest should be tossed.

According to an update from The Blastpublished Sunday, however, prosecutors have now notified the court of their plans for appeal. Prosecutors in the case are asking for an appellate court to overturn the March move. This massively affects Thugger, as the case itself won't be closed or otherwise be allowed to progress until a decision is made on this new appeal.

As previously reported, the judge who last month sided with Thugger pointed out that one officer had stated "unequivocally" that the reason for the original traffic stop was a "supposed window tint violation" that lacked credible evidence. "All evidence that flowed directly and indirectly from this illegal stop and seizure must be suppressed, including, but not limited to, all statements, firearms, and supposed drugs," court documents said at the time.

In September 2018, Young Thug was indicted on eight felony charges including possession of and intent to distribute multiple substances. The distribution argument has received specific pushback from Thugger's team, who's argued instead that "no evidence" was provided that supports any allegations of an intent to distribute.

As the controversial traffic stop case continues, Thugger is actively prepping a new album boasting an executive producer credit from J. Cole.
