XXXTentacion's mother has taken legal steps to retrieve her late son's property.

The Blast reports that Cleopatra Bernard is asking the State of Florida to return XXX's 2017 Black BMW i8, the car in which he was fatally shot. The Assistant State Attorney filed the request on Bernard's behalf, stating investigators have completed processing the vehicle and, therefore, no longer need it. According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, XXX's mom is concerned that the BMW will be further damaged, as it has remained in storage without being driven or maintained.

If the judge grants Bernard's request, the legal team for Dedrick Williams—one of XXX's suspected killers—will have until the end of February to examine the car as part of their defense. Once the deadline comes, the BMW will be returned to Bernard.

XXX was gunned down June 18, 2018, outside a motorsports dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The rapper would've turned 21 on Wednesday. It was previously reported that the rapper had signed a will in late 2017, designating his mother as the trustee of his estate.

Williams has pleaded not guilty to the murder charges. His co-defendants are Robert Allen, Trayvon Newsome, and the suspected trigger man Michael Boatwright.
