To say that Colombian reggaeton and Latin trap star J Balvin has had a great year is putting it lightly, gaining huge popularity in the States thanks to a number of high-profile collaborations and stellar solo singles. He's worked with everyone from Pharrell and Major Lazer to Cardi B and Sean Paul, and he was even recently named the fourth-most-listened-to artist in the world on Spotify in 2018. To celebrate his fantastic year, he showed up on Fallon to perform his latest single.

"Reggaetón," Balvin's first single since he released his most recent studio album Vibras back in May, gets the treatment it deserves on The Tonight Show, with him being joined by a number of dancers a minute into his performance. Just last month, J Balvin won Best Urban Album at the 2018 Latin Grammy Awards, proving that the 33-year-old musician is still getting started on his quest in introducing Spanish language music to the world.

When he accepted his award last month, he made sure to dedicate his win "to everyone who is representing [urban genres] and fighting for it—even if at times we have been discriminated against. But here we are, fighting and showing that there are people with a lot of talent, that reggaeton has saved lives. Reggaeton has motivated people to leave the streets and focus on having better dreams and that it’s worth dreaming. [...] We are the future of music."
