John River Drops "The Bastard of the North"

He's back with another one.

For John River, things were looking incredibly dire at the top of 2018. The Canadian artist found himself battling a severe illness that mystified doctors and ultimately forced him to deliver a public plea for help. Thankfully, and after an eventual diagnosis, it seems like things are finally back on track for the talented emcee. Since closing that scary chapter of his life, River has dropped a handful of tracks that have him sounding as slick as ever, all of which see him spitting relentless bars over refreshing instrumentals.

This weekend, the Mississauga rapper keeps the momentum going with a brand new, piano-laced song called "Bastard of the North". Armed with some not-so-subtle allusions to Jon Snow, the Game of Thrones-inspired cut has River declaring himself king of his country and has him setting his sights on bigger and better things in the near future. You can listen to the track now on major streaming platforms, including Apple Music below.
