With the smoke created by Kanye’s MAGA hat fiasco still very thick, everyone from Snoop Dogg to J. Cole has called out the hypocrisy of the hip-hop icon. And now, fellow Chicagoan Lil Bibby can be added to the list as he took to Twitter to make it clear that Kanye West is now an opp.
On Friday morning (Oct. 5), Lil Bibby sent out a tweet that read “Make Kanye black again.” Although Bibby did not elaborate—and should be noted it's a line from Lil Durk's "Remembrance"—it can be assumed he’s responding to West’s recent string of controversial political opinions.
Since first outing himself as a Trump supporter in 2016, Kanye has habitually sported Trump’s polarizing Make America Great Again hat as a symbol of “inclusion” and “love.” And despite being met with much opposition, Ye emphasized his affinity for the President at SNL, subjecting the audience to one of his patented rants centered around the cast’s disdain for his hat. Then, like his “brother” Trump, Ye took to Twitter where he expressed his desire to abolish the U.S. Constitution's 13th Amendment. He followed that with a TMZ interview where he again tried to explain his stance on the offensive merchandise.
Lil Bibby sampled Kanye’s “Heard Em Say” for a track off his Free Crack 3 mixtape, but it's obvious why he's decided to denounce Chicago’s former hometown hero. And with Bibby turning his back on Ye, it is safe to say the Yandhi artist's plans for a Chi-based rebrand are now on a shaky foundation.
