Florida rapper Denzel Curry is the latest to share his views on the controversy surrounding Vic Mensa, whose BET Hip Hop Awards cypher contained lyrics aimed at the late XXXTentacion.

During an interview with The Breakfast Club, Curry was asked about his relationship with X, as well as his thoughts about the situation. Curry recounted the advice he gave Vic during his past Sway in the Morning interview, and it remains consistent: "Vic, focus on yourself, don't focus on everybody else," he said around the 8:55 mark in the video above. "Let them do what they do. And if you have a message, focus on that."

Although he was not in attendance to hear the lyrics in question, Curry said he was not feeling the direction Mensa went with his freestyle. "Don't talk nothing about the dead bro, especially if that's a friend of mine. And I know you, that's the different part. Come on, bro." He also expressed this same sentiment directly to Mensa: "I said it straight up, like, 'Bro that was wack. It's wack as fuck. Period."

Curry's response comes after Trippie Redd took to Instagram Live to address the controversy.

The freestyle will be released during the BET Hip Hop Awards, which will be televised on Oct. 16.
