Schoolyboy Q’s next studio album could arrive very soon.

On Tuesday night, TDE boss Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith responded to a tweet regarding the status of Schoolboy’s long-awaited project. The fan reminded Tiffith that the West Coast rapper claimed the album was about 90 percent done back in October 2017; however, the TDE CEO now insists the previous update was “fake news.”

swore i got news @ScHoolboyQ album was 90% done in like october 2017 @dangerookipawaa @iamstillpunch

So, “What’s the real news?” the fan asked. Tiffith provided a familiar answer:

What’s the real news?

90 to 95 % done https://t.co/7zS1QYdwkP

It’s important to take these estimates with a grain of salt, as there are many factors that could delay a project even if it has been completed. Though we still haven’t received a release date for Schoolboy’s next album, Tiffith’s tweet has definitely upped the anticipation.

The upcoming release will be Schoolboy’s first full-length solo effort since 2016’s Blank Face. Since then, the rapper has come through with a handful of singles, including “Code of Honor” with Future and DJ Esco; “Addicted to Ballin’” with Kamaiyah; “Cut Throat” with Royce da 5’9”; and “X” off the wildly successful Black Panther: The Album soundtrack.

Between his slew of collaborative efforts and the TDE North American tour, it’s clear Schoolboy has had a pretty solid 2018. Let's hope he ends the year on a high note with the release of a new project.
