"I been working... these are the fruits of my labor," Mick Jenkins told fans before unleashing his new song, "Bruce Banner."

Returning with new music after dropping an eight-song project, or more; the frustration, in February, the Chicago rapper sounds more confident than ever as he raps, "Honestly, can't nobody come for me except Kendrick." Later, he delivers a line that should make it clear what his city is about: "N***s lose medullas fuckin' with my shooters/Rappers lose medallions fuckin' with Chicago."

"I've had time to assess what I've got going on," Jenkins told Zane Lowe on Beats 1 Radio. "I assessed my career, I assessed my business, I assessed my mind, and I took a lot of 2017 and 2018 to get everything as far as that goes together. Now I'm in a space where it's like, 'Alright, I'm ready to step back out and let everybody know what I'm working on.' I think that's where that song is coming from. It's like, Bruce Banner is the mathematician—the guy putting it together—but there is an actual Hulk in there, and he's coming out."

This isn't the first time Mick Jenkins has incorporated Hulk's alter-ego into his music. On his 2015 Wave[s] cut, "Perception," Jenkins rapped, "6'5", young Bruce Bruce/Pack strong, that's Bruce Banner off the vegitary."

Before releasing the song, Jenkins teased a new album as he wrote on Instagram, "I know y’all thought y’all was ready for the album. But I’m bouta get you ready."
