Police Arrest Another Suspect in XXXTentacion Shooting Death

Wednesday, authorities said they had arrested 22-year-old Michael Boatwright and charged him with first-degree murder. Police are still seeking another suspect and a person of interest.

Police have arrested one of the two armed suspects involved in the shooting death of 20-year-old XXXTentacion.

The Broward Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday that 22-year-old Michael Boatwright had been served with a first-degree murder arrest warrant after being taken in on unrelated drug charges, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Another unnamed suspect and 22-year-old "person of interest" Robert Allen are still being sought by investigators.

At the time of this writing, authorities had not clarified whether Boatwright or the other armed suspect is believed to have opened fire on XXXTentacion (if not both), who was shot outside RIVA Motorsports last month and later died at a nearby hospital. In just over 48 hours after what investigators have described as an attempted armed robbery, 22-year-old Dedrick Williams was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder.

"It's a horrific crime and we're going to solve it and we're going to bring those who did it to justice," Broward Sheriff Scott Israel said of the "tragic shooting" last month. At the time of his death, XXXTentacion was awaiting trial on charges including domestic battery by strangulation and witness tampering.

Over the weekend, we learned XXXTentacion had inked a $10 million deal with Empire just weeks before his death.
