J. Prince has opened up about his relationship with Drake recently in the midst of Drizzy and Pusha-T's back-and-forth. He recently sat down with Big Boy to talk more about that whole ordeal as well as his first impressions of Drake.

At the 43:20 mark, Big Boy asked J about how his relationship with Drake came to be. "Drake was brought to me by my son Jas," he explained. While Jas was on tour with Lil Wayne, J suggested that he have a conversation with Weezy about starting a record label. "Tell him to send somebody here, let's have a meeting and talk about, you know, the business side of things," he told his son at the time.

"At that point I asked him, I said, 'Well who gonna be your first artist?' He mentioned this kid named Drake," he continued. "Asked what his first reaction to Drake's music was, he said, "I'm like, 'Wait a minute, man, you like this?' Like, this dude's singing all over the place, I'm like, 'Hold up man.' 'Dad, trust me, it's the new sound.'"

He says he started to change his tune after talking to some people in Canada to confirm Drake's buzz. "He was so convinced that this was the next thing.... He was right."

At the 47:20 mark of the interview, which can be seen above, J was asked about why he thought the "knockout blow" of a track should never see the light of day. "More like a career-ending blow," he responded, adding, "Definitely for the homie Kanye.... I had come in and said, 'Man, you know we don't go there.'"

J also detailed what in particular bothered him about Pusha-T's diss track. "The pieces that bothered me the most, was the disrespect for his mother," he said. "Disrespect for his father.... And then he went on to a man that's dying." In his track, Pusha took shots at Drizzy's producer 40, who suffers from multiple sclerosis. "I love a good battle," J continued. "But to go that extreme, yeah that bothered me."

J did say it took a while for Drake to actually want to listen to what he had to say, but in the end he feel he made the right decision. Watch the full interview above.
