Minaj made the announcement on Twitter on Tuesday, writing, “I couldn’t fly out to shoot Ellen. [Doctor’s orders]. I’m sad about that. There’s an announcement I was going to make on Ellen. I’ll make it tomorrow via social media instead. Love you,” followed by a unicorn emoji.

Minaj didn’t provide any further details.

With her forthcoming album Queen slated to drop on June 15, we’re hoping that the news she's set to share is more unreleased material or some sort of tour. The most recent singles she offered her fans were “Barbie Tingz” and the hit “Chun-Li” in April, followed by the songs' videos in early May.

On Wednesday, in lieu of Minaj joining the show, Ellen played Minaj’s “Chun-Li” video on the show. “Speaking of dancing, has anyone seen Nicki Minaj’s new video yet? It’s called ‘Chun-Li’,” Ellen said. “It’s good right? Everybody’s been talking about Nicki, but I think the real star was her backup dancer.”

If you hadn’t guessed, the video Ellen showed had one slight rewrite: in multiple shots, she edited her face into the video, over another dancer’s face. Prepare yourself before you watch the video because Ellen twerks... a lot.
