Disturbing New Details Emerge in XXXTentacion Abuse Case

XXXTentacion has pleaded not guilty. A trial is set for October.

New details have emerged regarding XXXTentacion's alleged abuse of a pregnant woman. As previously reported, XXXTentacion has been charged with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, false imprisonment, domestic battery by strangulation, and witness-tampering. XXXTentacion, if convicted at trial in October, faces a potentially lengthy prison sentence. In Pitchfork-obtained excerpts from the alleged victim's 142-page testimony, the Florida singer is accused of frequent and extensive abuse.

Warning: The following contains disturbing descriptions of alleged acts of violence.

According to the testimony, captured at a Miami public defender's office in January, XXXTentacion—whose real name is Jahseh Onfroy—and the alleged victim began "cohabitating" at a residence in North Miami in May 2016. Approximately two weeks later, Onfroy allegedly slapped the victim and broke her iPhone 6s for complimenting a male friend's jewelry. That same day, Onfroy made the victim choose between "a barbecue pitchfork and a barbecue cleaner" being put inside her vagina:

She chose the fork. He told her to undress. He was lightly dragging the tool against her inner thigh when she passed out. He did not penetrate her with it.

The testimony states that Onfroy was frequently violent following this incident. After the two moved to Orlando in July 2016, Onfroy is said to have threatened the victim's life "literally like every day." At one point, Onfroy allegedly head-butted, punched, stomped, and kicked the woman after she hummed along to an unnamed featured artist on one of his songs during a car ride. He also allegedly threatened to cut out her tongue.

Shortly after Onfroy's arrest in a separate aggravated battery case, the woman had sex with another man. Upon Onfroy's release, the two moved in together again in North Miami. Onfroy, holding a glass bottle, allegedly told her he was "going to fuck you up" if she didn't "tell him the truth" about what happened. The two moved again, this time to Sweetwater, one week later. Onfroy allegedly strangled the woman at this residence on multiple occasions before another resident intervened.

In October of last year, the woman learned that she was pregnant. That same month, Onfroy is said to have walked out onto the balcony of the residence to place a call to the man the woman had sex while he was in jail. After the call, Onfroy alleged threatened to kill the woman and the unborn child. Onfroy, allegedly, then head-butted, punched, elbowed, and strangled the woman before threatening to kill her in the bathtub. The woman described her face at the time as looking "distorted." One of her eyes, she recalled, was bleeding.

When other roommates showed up at the apartment, she asked to be taken to the hospital. She was then forced to put on glasses and a hoodie before being taken to an unfamiliar apartment. The woman was allegedly left alone in a bedroom, where she stayed for two consecutive days. Onfroy took possession of her phone.

Eventually, the transcript states, the woman was able to escape while pretending to use the refrigerator. She asked to use a stranger's phone and placed a call to her ex-boyfriend, whose mother offered transportation to the Miami Beach police department.

Onfroy has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. His trial begins Oct. 5. For more of the 142-page testimony, see Pitchfork's full report here.
