When it comes to celebrity couples, one of the few relationships that rivals Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's is the one Kanye was in right before Kim: his two-year relationship with Amber Rose. When they first linked up in 2008, it was an interesting time for Kanye. He was coming off 808s & Heartbreak (and Swiftgate), and just getting into My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. It was one the most tumultuous times in his career, and led to two of the most impressive (and captivating) albums in his catalog.

For that two-year span, the pair were spotted on runways and during MTV Video Music Awards red carpets, but after their time together was up, things only got more heated in the media.

With her recent appearance on Everyday Struggle, Amber Rose kept it surprisingly real when it came to questions about her time with Kanye West. For those of you who might not remember how Kanye and Amber got together, or the rollercoaster ride that was (is?) their relationship, here's a look back at the key points in their lives, from when 'Ye says he first saw her, to that line he removed from the leaked version of "Famous."

Sept. 11, 2008: Amber appears in Ludacris' "What Them Girls Like" video

Apparently where Kanye West first saw Amber was in this mid-career Luda single. “I was home in the Bronx, and he called me on my cellphone,” Amber told The Post. “I’d never met him before. He was like, ‘Hey, it’s Kanye.'” She thought it was a prank and hung up on him. After some time, though, he convinced her to fly to Los Angeles to shoot the unreleased video for "Robocop."

April 17, 2009: Amber bares all for Kanye's Louis Vuitton sneaker campaign

While most of the shots in Yeezy's Louis V campaign were standard pictures of him looking dope with some expensive-ass kicks on, there's one iconic shot of Kanye sitting on a couch totally clothed, with a nude Amber laying down with her head in his lap.

Sept. 13, 2009: Kanye and Amber sip Henny on the VMAs red carpet

Sure, the most infamous moment during the 2009 MTV VMAs was Kanye storming the stage to denounce Taylor Swift (setting off a whirlwind of events still felt up through the release of The Life of Pablo). But fans who'd been keeping an eye on the red carpet knew there was about to be a problem when they spotted 'Ye sipping Henny straight from the bottle during the red carpet festivities. Both he and Amber seemed to be in good spirits, pun intended.

July 6, 2010: Amber Rose and Kanye split up

After two years of being spotted everywhere together, Kanye and Amber decided to split up. Kanye was said to have been engrossed in the recording of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and figured it made more sense to break things off. At the time, Rose was already linked with Kim Kardashian's ex-boyfriend, Reggie Bush. By 2011, she was in a heavily-publicized relationship with Wiz Khalifa. Kanye, of course, started dating Kim Kardashian in April of 2012.

Jan. 4, 2012: Amber reportedly calls Kim Kardashian a "homewrecker"

In an interview with Star magazine, Amber says Kim Kardashian was "one of the main reasons why me and Kanye are not together. She's a homewrecker!" Rose said that Kim had been cheating on Reggie Bush with Kanye during their relationship, saying that Kim had been texting Kanye, sending him photos and the like. She did thank Kim, though, saying that "if she was never a homewrecker, then I never would have met Wiz."

April 17, 2012: Kanye addresses Wiz Khalifa and Amber relationship on "Cold"

During the lead-in to the release of the G.O.O.D. Music compilation Cruel Summer, Kanye dropped "Cold," which was controversial for a number of reasons, but most importantly for the following lines:

And the whole industry want to fuck your old chick
Only nigga I got respect for is Wiz
And I'll admit, I had fell in love with Kim
Around the same time she had fell in love with him

Kanye gave his approval of Khalifa and Rose's relationship, but in a very roundabout way. The next pair of lines speak on how long Kanye had been in love with Kim, which overlaps the time she fell in love with NBA ballplayer Kris Humphries, who she was married to for a short 72 days back in 2011.

Feb. 20, 2015: The infamous "30 showers" comment

During an interview with The Breakfast Club, West decided to insert himself in the beef between the Kardashian family and Amber Rose, which stemmed from Amber commenting on Tyga and Kylie Jenner's relationship. Kanye said, "If Kim had dated me when I first wanted to be with her, there wouldn't be an Amber Rose. It's very hard for a woman to wanna be with someone that's with Amber Rose. I had to take 30 showers before I got with Kim." Yikes.

Amber Rose clapped back on Twitter, bringing Kim's previous relationship with Ray J into the fold, among other things.

Damn, Amber.

Jan. 27, 2016: Kanye West told Wiz Khalifa he "let a stripper trap" him

For a while, Kanye West didn't know what to title the album that eventually became The Life of Pablo. At one point, it was called Waves, and Wiz Khalifa took to Twitter to tell Kanye that he stole the "waves" term from Max B. Kanye wasn't rocking with that and went on the warpath, clapping at Wiz for his entire life. Very early into his lengthy Twitter rant, Kanye said, "You let a stripper trap you," further mentioning how Amber "got" Wiz "for 18 years."

Amber retaliated, primarily because she didn't like how Kanye brought Wiz and Amber's son Bash into the feud. Her response? Simply legendary.

Don't fuck with the lioness.

Feb. 2, 2016: Amber Rose and Kim Kardashian squash their beef

After all of the back-and-forth, it reportedly took a secret sit-down between Amber Rose and Kim Kardashian to get them to end their feud, settling it with a selfie that shocked the world.

Their friendship didn't stop there, either. Amber not only came to Kim's defense after Pink threw shots at Kim for her nude bathroom selfie, but she told Nightline that they "literally text each other all the time" even if she dated Kanye in the past, who she ended up forgiving during her SlutWalk in October of 2015.

June 25, 2016: Kanye West includes Amber Rose in video for "Famous"

Kanye had everyone talking when he dropped the visual for Pablo's "Famous," which featured a dozen or so naked wax figures of Donald Trump, Kim Kardashian, Ray J, as well as Amber Rose. The song was controversial in its own right, and the visual matched its dedication to controversy to a T. What's even more interesting, though, is the unreleased version of "Famous" that leaked in October of 2016. At one point, instead of rapping, "I feel that Taylor Swift still owe me sex," Kanye rapped, "I feel like Amber Rose still owe me sex." There's no word on why he didn't keep her name in the track.

Jul. 25, 2017: Amber Rose talks Kanye West on Everyday Struggle

Amber Rose stopped by Everyday Struggle and opened up about her past with 'Ye. If you haven't seen the episode, she reveals a lot about their relationship to DJ Akademiks, Joe Budden, and Nadeska. Get all of the tea in the full episode.
