On Saturday, Dom Kennedy and Hit-Boy released their joint EP as Half-A-Mil featuring four new songs and “100 Rounds” that came out in November.

Dom and Hit are from different parts of California (Leimert Park, Los Angeles and Fontana, respectively), coming together as two creatives who aim to rep the West in a genre that is dominated by the Atlanta scene. The EP is a teaser for their debut album, showcasing Hit and Dom’s chemistry as they trade expensive verses over the HS87 leader’s production. Songs that immediately stand out are the club bop “Get It Off Ya Chest” and the chilled-out “Betty Shabazz.”
