It's been a long while since Lady Gaga last released pop music, but on Thursday night she returned with her new song "Perfect Illusion." Produced by Mark Ronson, BloodPop, and Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, the track will live on her upcoming fourth album, which is rumored to be dropping sometime this fall.

Although Gaga had a long reign as one of music's biggest names, her pop music career has recently taken a backseat to acting and releasing more adult-oriented music. She appeared on American Horror Story: Hotel last season, nabbing a Golden Globe for her performance, and is set to return this season. She also released a duets album with Tony Bennett, aimed squarely at a different consumer than her dance pop past. The pivot is understandable. Although her 2013 album ARTPOP was still successful, it was a big step down from the runaway success of Born This Way.

After stepping away for a bit, though, it's clear that Lady Gaga is ready to jump right back in to making earworm-heavy pop music for the masses to enjoy.
