"I worked hard on it...On just trying to have stories to tell people. Honesty is easy. The stories—that's the hard part," Staples told Lowe about his writing process. Staples' has an explicit appetite for honesty and has even gone on record noting that music isn't the most important thing in the grand scheme of things. "You’re not a person when you make music. You’re a link. They just want to click it. It get’s kinda crazy out here."
The project doesn't officially drop until Friday, but we already know that it boasts production from James Blake, No I.D., and DJ Dahi and guest features from A$AP Rocky and Kilo Kush. It serves as the official follow-up to his Summertime '06 debut, and features the previously-released track "War Ready," which samples Andre 3000's classic verse on Outkast's "ATLiens." An accompanying short film is also on the way, directed by Nabil, who has famously worked with Kanye West, Frank Ocean, and more.
