DJ Khaled's Major Key album is easily one of the most anticipated for 2016 thanks to a few big collaborations he has in the stash. For starters, Khaled got Jay Z and Future to link up for a record which counts as Khaled's second song with Hov, the first being "They Don't Love You No More." And then there's Khaled's collaboration with Drake, which is now out.
"For Free" was premiered on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 Radio show and features production from Nineteen85 and Jordan Ullman. The record definitely has a summertime vibe to it, which shouldn't come as a surprise as Nineteen85 is the man behind Drake's "Hotline Bling," while Jordan also knows how to deliver smooth vibes as one-half of Majid Jordan.
Drake opens up by cribbing Too $hort's "Blow the Whistle" and then gets to business by rapping about his plan for his lady friend(s). He also shouts out Kendrick Lamar with the line, "And like your boy from Compton said you know this dick ain't free," which is a reference to Kendrick's "For Free? (Interlude)" off To Pimp a Butterfly. Following its first spin, Khaled spoke on what kind of anthem this could be. "Every hustler gonna sing word for word. Every female gonna sing word for word." Three more spins on Beats 1 and we don't doubt it. Listen to "For Free" below and grab it on iTunes here.
DJ Khaled also spoke with Zane Lowe about his upcoming Jay Z and Future song, which is called "I Got the Keys," and mentioned there's a strong possibility he gets in the studio with Kanye West. According to Khaled, Kanye is waiting on him, which shows you how much clout the Miami representative has. That, and Khaled said he's thinking about Snapchatting the birth of his kid. #SnapchatKing.
