Pusha T’s having a great week. He was named the new president of G.O.O.D. Music and celebrated the announcement with his Timbaland-produced single “Untouchable” off King Push. After previewing some songs during a private event for the release of his latest adidas Original collaboration in New York City, he stopped by Ebro In The Morning to talk about his single, King Push, why he doesn’t care if critics hate on him for rapping about cocaine, and much more.
King Push will be out sometime in December, and is set to feature production from Puff Daddy, Kanye West, Boi-1da, Baauer, and DJ Mano, to name a few. Pusha also gave us an update on ‘Ye’s SWISH with something Travi$ Scott has said in a similar fashion ("it's lit"). “It’s incredible,” he says.

On the origins of his beef with Lil Wayne and Birdman: "Probably before [“Mr. Me Too.”] Just rap stuff. And then there was a wild interview, and the outakes of the interview got out. Very loose talk. I have no clue. I sort of feel like this was the time when the Internet and when fans were being very vocal. Fans will be like, ‘Man, you into this. Or you talkin’ like that and you sounding like him.’ I feel like [Wayne] did an interview that wasn’t diplomatic. It wasn’t like me or anything that I said."
On why he doesn’t care about people criticizing his cocaine raps: "I feel like if you say that, you’re only listening at a surface level, number one. And I don’t make my music for people who listen to the surface level. I just don’t. I feel like it’s a lot of similes and metaphors. It’s an art to what I do. That’s number one. Number two, I’ve been living with that stigma since I came out, and now I watch [how] we created a whole trap-a-thon around dope boys."
On being the newly appointed president of G.O.O.D. Music: "Just us as a collective, it easy for me in dealing with these guys because I got a relationship with them on a personal level. Any one of them, I like really reach out to. We just speak, kick it. At the end of the day, we can execute anything. I feel like ‘Ye feels like that. We as a team, and me as a team player I’m like the huddle God."
On the release of King Push:"King Push: Darkness Before Dawn, the prelude. I’m dropping that before the end of this year. That’s what we listening to last night. We dropped the Push T EQT sneaker, and everybody that was there listened to these joints that I made. It’s just so dark, and it is really for my fans. I like to make a certain type of music. And my fans love that. I made so many records that I was getting to the point where I was taking my favorite one from here and taking this one [that’s] a little more lighthearted and mixing and matching. I was like, ‘Nah, let me just go ahead and make a full body of evil that I wanted to share with my fans.’"
