A woman pleaded guilty last week to charges of solicitation of murder and using a computer to commit a crime after trying to hire a hitman to kill her ex-husband from a fake website, MLive.com reports

Michigan State Police were contacted by the owners of a website called “Rent-A-Hitman.com” after someone filled out a “service request form” seeking consultation for what was described as an “issue” with her ex-husband. Even though she attempted to hide her identity, authorities were able to determine that they were looking for Wendy Lynn Wein based on the personal information she provided in the form.

On July 17, an undercover cop posed as a hitman from the website, which was created as a cyber-security test site, and held a parking lot meeting with Wein, who offered to cover out-of-state expenses, as well as $5,000 for the hit. Once Wein handed over the payment, she was arrested.

Wein struck a plea deal that will cap the minimum sentence at 108 months. She will be sentenced on Jan. 13, 2022.
