Las Vegas Terrorist Shot Hotel Security Guard 6 Minutes Before Attack

The Mandalay Bay guard was originally believed to have been shot during the terrorist's attack on Route 91 Harvest Festival.

Las Vegas terrorist Stephen Paddock shot a hotel security guard minutes before beginning his attack on the Route 91 Harvest Festival, police revealed Monday. This updated timeline of events marks a departure from authorities' initial reports, which estimated the shooting of the guard took place during Paddock's attack on the music festival.

During a press conference, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said the ongoing investigation into Paddock’s attack had resulted in a shifting of their original timeline. "The timeline associated with the original shot of [Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino security guard Jesus Campos] has changed through the investigation," Lombardo told reporters Monday, as seen at the 9:15 mark in the video up top. "What we have learned is that Mr. Campos was encountered by the suspect prior to his shooting to the outside world." As Lombardo explained, there may also be additional "minute" changes in the originally reported details of Paddock's attack as the investigation continues.

Lombardo also reiterated there is "no evidence" of the attack having involved a second shooter, again pushing back against a conspiracy theory that has unfortunately gained ground among idiots. On-site investigations at festival grounds and the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino are expected to continue for at least another a week.

Paddock shot and killed 58 people and injured hundreds more on the evening of Oct. 1. Paddock fired down into the crowd from a Mandalay Bay suite on the 32nd floor and was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A suit filed in Clark County District Court by victims of the attack accuses Slide Fire Solutions Inc. and other "bump stock" manufacturers of negligence. "This horrific assault did not occur, could not occur, and would not have occurred with a conventional handgun, rifle, or shotgun, of the sort used by law-abiding responsible gun owners for hunting or self-defense," the complaint, excerpted by Bloomberg Tuesday, said.
