Silva was placed on administrative leave in January.
"The Zachary Police Department and the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office have been handling this investigation. Immediately, when it was brought to our attention, we reported it to law enforcement and placed the employee on administrative leave," Zachary Schools Superintendent Scott Devillier said in a statement, according to the news outlet. "No one is covering up anything, nor sweeping anything under the rug. We are following the law; and I am unable to comment beyond this information."
During the investigation, detectives discovered that Silva reached out to the teenager first via their school email addresses. According to authorities, the pair eventually stopped using the school email addresses "so the school could not track their emails." She also sent the teen naked pictures and videos of herself, careful to keep her face out of them.
The boy told authorities they had sex "eight or nine times" over the summer, according to WBRZ. He said he wanted to bring their relationship out into the open, but she asked him not to "due to how his disclosure would affect her career and her family."
Silva's bond has been set at $225,000.
