South Carolina Man Arrested for Kidnapping, Chaining Woman 'Like a Dog' Confesses to At Least 7 Killings

South Carolina authorities reported in a press statement on Saturday that Todd Kohlepp, the suspect they arrested for allegedly murdering a man and chaining his girlfriend to a storage container, has confessed to killing at least six other people.

Kohlepp told law enforcement that he had killed four people at a motorcycle shop in 2003, according to Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright. The suspect also led the sheriff's office to the site of two more bodies on his S.C. property, according reports.

The alleged killer's confession comes only a day after a woman, who was later identified as Kala Brown, and the body of her partner, Charles Carver, were discovered in a metal storage unit. In a video statement, Brown corroborated Kohlepp's statement, telling authorities that she saw at least four other bodies at the site where she had been recovered.

Brown and Carver had been missing since Aug. 31, according to reports. After watching her boyfriend get shot in front of her, Brown was left chained to a storage container for nearly two months, WYFF reports. While it's unclear of Kohlepp's relationship to the six people he allegedly murdered 13 years ago, authorities say the suspect, Brown, and her boyfriend were well acquainted, and that the alleged crime was not random. After the couple met Kohlepp online, Brown reportedly began working for the suspect, cleaning houses for him, as previously reported. Kohlepp is still being held in custody without bail as more details in his case develop.
