This isn't the first time scorpions have hitched rides on United flights.

A woman encountered an unexpected inconvenience while trying to get to her final destination.

An unnamed woman tells TMZ that she was stung by a scorpion while aboard a United Airlines flight. The passenger was taking a flight from San Francisco to Atlanta when she started to feel a "stinging sensation" on her leg. When it intensified, she decided to go to the restroom in hopes to figure out its origin. According to the woman, that's when the bug fell from her pants leg and ran across the floor.

The scorpion was eventually caught by flight attendants. According to a statement from United that was released on Friday, paramedics met the woman when the plane landed to treat her for her multiple stings.

"Upon landing in Atlanta, the flight was met by medical personnel," the statement reads. "The customer was transported to a local hospital. We have been in contact with our customer to ensure her well-being."

It's unclear how the bug got on the plane, but this isn't the first time scorpions have hitched rides on United flights. In April 2017, passenger Richard Bell was stung by a scorpion while taking a United plane from Houston to Calgary. Per CNBC, the bug fell from the overhead bin. The following month, on another flight from Houston, a passenger saw a scorpion on another boarder's sleeve. In this incident, neither passenger was stung.
