Additional information has been revealed in the case involving a Florida State University student who was formally charged in October after police found him seemingly eating the face of a man he is accused of stabbing to death in August. According to the Palm Beach Post, 19-year-old Austin Harrouff, who is also accused of stabbing and killing the man's wife, told deputies that he had eaten "something bad."
The Post reported Monday that newly obtained court documents reveal that after Harrouff was taken to the hospital when deputies found him, he told the police, "Help me, I ate something bad." When a sergeant asked Harrouff what he'd eaten, Harrouff responded, "humans." The Post further reports that deputies said Harrouff spit out a piece of human flesh at the hospital.
In addition to facing two counts of second degree murder for allegedly fatally stabbing 59-year-old John Stevens III and his wife, 53-year-old Michelle Mishcon, Harrouff is also charged with attempted first degree murder for allegedly attacking a neighbor who tried to intervene, as well as burglary. Harrouff and his victims were found at Stevens and Mischon's home on Aug. 15.
When police and a K-9 struggled to remove Harrouff from Stevens' body in August, he begged officers to shoot and kill him and said, "I deserve to die," according to the Post. Harrouff was hospitalized for several weeks while he was being treated for chemicals he had digested. The Post reports that doctors said it was likely Harrouff had found the chemicals in his victims' garage and ingested them there.
