The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg suggested Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez "sit still" and "learn the job" in light of comments made by the U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district in an interview with 60 Minutes. Ocasio-Cortez was critical of how her own Democratic Party has operated as a whole over recent years. "We as a party have compromised too much," Ocasio-Cortez says in the interview. "And we’ve lost too much of who we’re supposed to be and who we are."

"It is very, very difficult when people make accusations where you say, you know, the Democrats have done nothing, the establishment of the Democrats have done nothing," Goldberg said. "And I just want to throw this out to you: [Rep.] John Lewis wasn't sitting still. [Sen.] Dianne Feinstein wasn't sitting still." Ocasio-Cortez has also urged progressives like her to challenge the Democratic Party's more conservative-leaning members in future primaries.

"You just got in there, and I know you got lots of good ideas, but I would encourage you to sit still for a minute and learn the job," Whoopi said. "There are people in that party who have been working their tails off for this country. You could learn some stuff from them." Ocasio-Cortez was officially sworn into Congress last week.

Now that the Democrats have finally gained control of the House, the party has some more power when it comes to hot-button issues.
