For Fall/Winter 2021, Japanese label COMME des GARÇONS has linked up with Saloman Sportstyle for a set of collaborative XA-Alpine and Cross shoes.
Comprising two XA-Alpine models and one Cross silhouette, the collaboration combines Salomon’s technical aesthetic with COMME des GARÇONS’ avante-garde heritage and monochrome colour palette, resulting in a range of shoes that have been reimagined for hiking aficionados and city dwellers alike.
The first, dubbed the XA-Alpine Mid, gets its title thanks to technology and stylistic choices that are used up by alpine running necessities such as control, stability, support, and protection.
Arriving in two colours options, the style features a protective outer layer, shielding the foot from the elements, a strap to keep your foot locked in and Salomon’s tried-and-tested Contagrip soles, offering increased traction on all kinds of loose terrains. Salomon’s branding can be found across the shoe’s outer layer while COMME des GARÇONS lettering has been printed on the mid-panel in bold contrast block capitals.
Meanwhile, the Cross features a houndstooth ankle gaiter—a pattern beloved by the brand since its inception— which has been developed exclusively for the collaboration and uses the same Chevron-shaped rubber grooves on the outsole. Just like the XA-Alpine Mid, prominent hits of Salomon and Comme Des Garçons branding complete the shoe’s design.
Both styles are currently available to cop from COMME des GARÇONS and Dover Street Market stores across the globe, and are slated for a wider online release via DSM’s website on October 28.
