COMME des GARÇONS is no stranger to collaborating on more obscure sneakers. Fresh from its collaborative Air Max 97, the Rei Kawakubo-helmed label has reunited with sportswear giant Nike to unveil its latest sneaker release, the Air Max Sunder.
A relatively forgotten classic first released in 1999, the Air Max Sunder stands as one of the label’s most intriguing designs to date. Most recently revealed as part of the COMME des GARÇONS Homme Plus Spring/Summer 2022 show titled The Existence of Flowers, the cross training shoe is updated with a premium neoprene and nubuck upper and houses a zipper-equipped tongue, which locks at the top.
Boasting a outer made up of heat-welded overlays, embedded mini Swoosh branding, and a highly sculpted Air midsole, additional details include GARÇONS HOMME PLUS branding, mini Nike swoosh motifs and an archetypal Air midsole, which pays homage to the shoe’s cross training roots.
Arriving in “Triple White”, “Triple Black”, and “White/Black”, the CdG Homme Plus x Nike Air Sunder Max is set to release on July 21 via the Dover Street Market webstore.
