Carhartt WIP has just delivered its Fall/Winter 2022 lookbook, showcasing a selection of hardwearing and functional designs.

Arguably one of the brand’s most multifaceted collections to date, the new range explores several themes under the workwear label’s signature lens, ranging from traditional outdoor gear and Baroque-influenced tapestries to Scandinavian minimalism and New York’s Youth Crew subculture of the 1990s.

Centred around a slew of classic items and fabrics, such as Dearborn Canvas, the collection comprises a series of cotton jersey items, featuring a voluminous balloon fit and a unique pigment dye treatment, and uses laser ageing treatments to create a time-honoured feel.

In addition, various archetypal Carhartt WIP elements are also added to the line up—such as gold button detailing, reinforced panelling, robust canvas and diamond quilting—which are then spliced together with muted brown hues and shearling fabric for a playful ‘70s interpretation of the brand’s DNA.

Elsewhere, the offering hones in on a utilitarian aesthetic and a contrasting Scandinavian bent, marrying textured fisherman style sweaters with clean outerwear, such as the Kilda Jacket. Other items, meanwhile, have a baroque-collegiate feel, channelled through decorative tapestries and a rich palette of dark reds and dusty browns.

Rounding out the collection is a series of prep-influenced staples which draw inspiration from the brand’s own archival advertising, as well as elements of American casualwear. Varsity jackets also appear alongside horizontal stripes and chino pants, reflecting the clean collegiate aesthetic first seen in New York during the late ‘90s.
