The book, the front cover of which is pictured above, is the latest in Phaidon’s Contemporary Artist Series. Billed as the “most comprehensive study” yet on the artist, it promises to give longtime fans and newcomers alike an in-depth look at KAWS’ initial discovery of the graffiti form as a child before detailing his path to global recognition. Meanwhile, photographer Jason Schmidt contributed photos of KAWS' studio.
As previously announced, the book—which will be available exclusively via UNIQLO and Phaidon starting on Sept. 7—will be further supported with a t-shirt and sweatshirt collection.
"I'm pleased to be exclusively launching my new Phaidon Contemporary Artist Series book with my longtime partner Uniqlo,” KAWS said last month. “To celebrate the occasion, I designed a small capsule collection of t-shirts and sweatshirts that will be available for a limited time. I hope you enjoy the collection!"
