Outfitting Olympic teams without controversy shouldn’t be that hard, but apparently it is. It was deemed un-patriotic when it was discovered that Polo Ralph Lauren’s USA Uniforms were made in China, but Egypt made a similar, yet even worse mistake. Egyptian Olympians were given gear made in China alright, but the uniforms were also fake, and to make it worse, the athletes had to pay for replacements. The country outsourced production to the lowest bidder. What they got were counterfeit Nike bags with adidas zippers, and a whole lot of controversy and pissed off athletes. [deadspin]
