For its first-ever team-up, Vans—the skateboard-focused label from California—has linked up with NYC staple Timberland for an entirely new, and unique, hybrid boot.
Drawing equal inspiration from the Half Cab and Timberland’s Euro Hiker, a lightweight yet surprisingly sturdy hiking boot created in the late ‘80s, the collaborative project combines the former’s earth-inspired colourways and outdoor reputation with the Half Cab’s penchant for timeless performance.
Crafted from a combination of canvas and Timberland’s premium leather, the new Half Cab’s familiar ⅝ cut upper is placed on top of Euro Hiker boot tooling and amplified with metal eye stays—as well as two-tone round boot laces. A ReBOTL™ lining that’s made from at least 50% recycled plastic dresses the inside of the shoe, while padded leather collars, rubber lug outsoles and co-branded detailing round off the look.
Accompanying the “Wheat” and “Olive/Chocolate” Half Cab Hiker’s is an entirely new take on Timberland’s paradigmatic Premium 6-Inch Waterproof Boots. Initially launched in 1973, the brand’s classic 6-Inch Boot has been updated by the Vans team with a combination of streetwear, workwear and skate aesthetics.
Shot by celebrity photographer Cian Moore in rural Nebraska—right between Vans’ sunny California headquarters and Timberland’s majestic New Hampshire base of operations—the campaign imagery showcases both professional models and locals, including Phil Burcher, the owner of Omaha-based Precision Skateboards.
The Vans x Timberland collaboration will be available on December 20 via select Vans & Timberland® retail stores, vans.com, and timberland.com.
