Contemporary menswear brand Studio Nicoholson has opened its first international store in Japan. Aiming to offer a complete brand experience for its growing customer-base, the interior space has been modelled to mirror the label’s London flagship and its selection of adaptable, elegant and functional clothing.
Located in the sophisticated shopping destination of Aoyama, the new outpost features a blend of natural and man-made materials reminiscent of the label’s collections. Featuring an industrial-reinforced concrete exterior, the notable highlight lies in the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, flooding the ground floor with abundant natural light.
Additionally, garments are displayed in portable bespoke modular frames, produced in solid oak plywood and laminated with Studio Nicholson’s signature colourway. Soft furnishing and ply hanging rails sit on top of the store’s glossed concrete floor, while floor-to-ceiling curtains, engineered to separate changing room areas and the shop floor, help to divide the 70.87 m2 unit into intimate and discrete sections.
“I first came to a perfectly ordered Tokyo back in 1999,” said founder and creative director Nick Wakeman. “Arriving from a grimy nineties London, I found everything in Japan was impeccable, well-ordered and clean—the tonal beiges, browns and creams and the light in Japan, I fell in love with it. Tokyo has informed all my design taste levels over the past two decades. This store opening is the brand coming home.”
The new Studio Nicholson Tokyo flagship store is located at Kita-Aoyama 3-7-10, Minato Ward, Tokyo and will open to the public daily from 11AM - 8PM.
