Amsterdam-born label Daily Paper has just revealed the first instalment from its Fall/Winter 2023 collection, titled Words That Guide Us, with a lookbook staring UK drill don Headie One.
Revealing a line-up of contemporary streetwear styles, the collection includes sleek jackets and bombers in premium fabrics, while knits and co-ords—detailed with Daily Paper’s shield logo—arrive in classic denim ensembles. Staying with the brand’s essence, a long, sandy-brown jacket serves as the collection’s hero piece, alongside new puffer coats and vests with graphics and monogram details.
Knitwear has been made from 100% cotton with playful reliefs in black and brown, “Pine Green”, navy and white colourways; printed graphics with tribal headstands and spears, proverbs and bananas also feature across the range, appearing notably on a black sherpa jacket and a brown fleece sweater with an embroidered motif depicting the national animal and flower of Somalia.
“Words are the key to building relationships and connecting with the past, the present and the future,” reads notes on the collection. “Continue bringing knowledge, memories and history to the community through art forms like spoken word, poetry and rap, where one plays with words to produce sounds that carry the intended message and brings people together. It is those words that guide us and facilitate the transmission process of both tangible and intangible knowledge through time and space, and from generation to generation.”
