FILA and Flock Together have just unveiled a capsule collection featuring a redesign of the 1990 Trailblazer alongside two premium fleece options made in technical, winter-ready fabrics.
Founded during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Flock Together is a collective that encourages and supports people of colour in birdwatching and the outdoors.
Bringing together FILA’s illustrious heritage in mountaineering and hike-wear alongside Flock Together's forward-thinking approach to urban exploration, the collection provides a modern take on a traditional activity.
Taking inspiration from the colours of the brown-hooded kingfisher, both jackets arrive in an understated and muted colour palette and feature a drawstring hood, stand collar underlay and half-zip fastening, as well as vibrant panelling and branding across the chest.
The theme is then continued across the footwear, with bright blues, greens, and orange hues featuring throughout. With that in mind, the right foot of each Trailblazer contains NFC Tag, which, when scanned with your phone, will take you to a microsite on LNCC.com where a database of all the best places in the UK to spot a Kingfisher can be found.
Speaking about the collaboration, Ollie Olanipekun, founder of Flock Together, said: “Growing up in the Nineties, I remember when the Trailblazer was a staple shoe within the UK hip-hop scene, as well as up on the mountains. So, when the opportunity arose for FILA to collaborate with Flock Together, we jumped at the chance. Our design of mixed materials references the many textures you find within nature, and the overarching theme of the shoe revolves around our love of the Kingfisher bird.
“This is a bird you rarely catch a full glance of but when you do, you will always remember your first time seeing the bright blue flash darting along a river bed. The collaboration is also important because it’s given us the opportunity to platform and feature our POC members; from design assistants to art direction and photography. Community and creative mentorship are key pillars at Flock Together.”
The FILA x Flock Together collection is available to cop now exclusively at LN-CC, where 15% of all sales will go towards the Flock Together community fund.
