For its latest collaborative endeavour, London-based sneaker retailer Footpatrol has teamed up with sports equipment brand Oakley for a retreat into the wild.

As part of the new union, the duo have created a collection that draws on the worldwide sum of all ecosystems. Paying particular reference to the evolutionary cues of the Minotaur beetle—and its impact on the biosphere—the collaboration looks to capture the bug’s texture, colour and microscopic intricacies by releasing a pair of sunglasses and a custom-printed T-shirt.

The frames have been made in an opaque black to clear transparent gradient design, with the black colour tone reminiscent of the Minotaur beetle’s hard shell exterior and the light that reflects its body. However, what makes the sunglasses pop is the Prizm Road Jade-coloured lenses with complimentary laser detailing etched around the perimeter, which reference the horns of the beetle.

A Footpatrol bar logo, which can be found on the bridge of the shades, is the final detail of the design. Additionally, each set of sunglasses can be kept safe in the accompanying custom printed dual branded micro bag, or by using Oakley’s universal eyewear leash which snaps on the end of the frames to keep them firmly in place.

The Oakley x Footpatrol collection will be available from July 15 at Footpatrol stores and online.
