Some of you may recognize artists RED from her previous work: painting with coffee, her portrait of Yao Ming using a basketball and her portrait of Mark Zuckerberg made out of books. This time around she is focusing on Adele, pulling inspiration from her hit song “Set Fire to the Rain.” RED (who’s real name is Hong Yi) explains that she is creating a four part series involving the four basic elements: fire, water, wind and earth. She says, “To me, Adele was probably singing about the pain of a lost relationship, rain may be a metaphor for her rears these cried and she is setting fire to it to burn and destroy her pain, I’ve used blue candles to represent tears, and by setting fire to them , they melt and flow into each other forming a portrait of Adele.”
