Menswear legend Glenn O’Brien has landed a new gig.

According to WWD, the former GQ “Style Guy” took over as Maxim magazine’s new editor at large on Tuesday—essentially replacing former editor in chief Kate Lanphear.

You may recall back in February when the publication hired Lanphear to re-brand and revive the 20-year-old magazine, which was mostly known for its racy images and humor writing; however, even after two redesigns, Maxim magazine continued to struggle. According to the WWD article, newsstands sales went from 131,099 in February to 95,471 in June/July. But that may very well turn around now that O’Brien is taking the reins.

“We wanted to do really great fashion and get the best writers, photographers and illustrators. I see a gap in the men’s market,” he told WWD. “Men’s magazines are more juvenile now. It’s like 12 ways to decorate your dorm room. I want to do something for a more mature audience.”

Stay tuned to see what O'Brien has in store.
