Summer Trend: How to Rock Neon

Neon, like alcohol, is great in moderation and totally optional to partake in. But with day-glo coming back thanks to designers like Warriors of Radness, Band of Outsiders, and Florsheim by Duckie Brown, we thought we'd highlight some of the cooler pieces out there.

If you wanna rock a neon piece, it's best to stick to one at a time, and let it be the focal point of the outfit. You want it to look intentional, not like you just got dressed in the dark -- although if you pile up the day-glo, you might just glow in the dark.

Band of Outsiders, $230

This orange shirt complements navy. So rock it with a navy blazer, navy chinos, or roll the sleeves up with a pair of your favorite jeans and white canvas kicks.

Bright green adds a nice pop to darker colors like gray and blue. If you find yourself in a suit, it wouldn't make a bad pocket square, but it also wouldn't look out of place neatly folded in the back pocket of your pants. Be sure to let it peep out just a little bit.

The Gio pants from Unis are notoriously expensive, but now they're on sale and could be worth the splurge. These yellow pants look great with a white buttondown or white tee. Feel free to throw a brown pair of chukkas or desert boots on underneath -- or your beat-up cream-colored Chucks.

Bracelets are all over tumblr feeds these days, so set yourself apart from all the dudes with those beaded ones by opting for something a little more exotic. You can rock this behind your watch, and if you happen to have a nice one, it'll draw more attention to your baller timepiece.

Urban Outfitters, $20

Nothing channels that "cool guy at the beach" vibe more than a bright tank top. Rock one with jorts, Vans Authentics, and a dope pair of sunglasses to complete the look.

We know you rock heat on your feet, so might as well supplement it with some equally eye-catching socks.

These oxford shoes from Walk-Over are dope because of the neon details. They're noticeable without being overpowering, and that's exactly the point of doing it right.

This Smurf-colored shirt would look good with white jeans, if you dare. Otherwise, a nice pair of washed jeans (cuffed of course) and some slip-on sneakers would look dope.

Yellow shoes aren't just for rain. These Sperry Topsiders are made out of ripstop and are actually pretty versatile. Just make sure you're not still matching your shirts to your shoes though.

These bright Warriors of Radness shorts will get you spotted at the beach without making you look like a lifeguard. They look great with a tank or a pocket tee, whether or not you wanna lug a surfboard around is up to you.
