Korea's Juun.J is Pitti Uomo's Latest Guest Designer

One of our favorite Korean designers takes center stage at men's fashion's biggest tradeshow.

One of our favorite Korean brands, Juun.J, has just been announced as the menswear guest designer at Pitti Uomo 89. Like Jeremy Scott before him, the designer will become a focal point of the latest edition of the major menswear trade show, which happens biannually in Florence, Italy.

Starting as a chief designer for Club Monaco, Korean designer Juun.J has risen quickly as one of the nation's biggest designer brands since launching in 2007. Focusing on what he calls "street tailoring," his internet-age designs reflect a clash between timeless tailoring skill—which makes him a natural fit for Pitti Uomo's Florentine setting—and contemporary art and visuals. It makes sense that the designer would be inspired by the internet too; ignoring Korea's rapid rise as a modern tech titan for a moment, the internet has been a key factor in allowing his designs to see global face time—notably on the backs of celebrities like Pusha T and Rihanna.

But Juun.J isn't the only thing to get excited about at this coming Pitti Uomo. It was also unveiled that the "designer project" at Pitti Uomo 89 will be helmed by adidas Originals by White Mountaineering. Like he's done before, White Mountaineering designer Yosuke Aizawa will blend his style with adidas Originals to create a unique collection for the festival. Considering that Aizawa had White Mountaineering's European debut in Florence, this is somewhat of a homecoming.

Pitti Uomo 89 will take place at the start of next year, kicking off on Jan. 12, and ending on Jan. 15. Keep it locked as more details develop.
