Intricate Insect Sculptures Built Using Old Watch Parts

Time comes alive.

Justin Gershenson-Gates is the artist behind A Mechanical Mind, a website dedicated to recycled watch parts made into sculptures. Intrigued by the mechanical workings of objects, the artist has always experimented with taking apart and putting things together beginning with his toys as a child. Gershenson-Gates' series of small insect sculptures reflects his understanding of bug anatomy, as the tiny creatures balance on their extremely thin but perfectly shaped legs, stadning in life-like poses. Gershenson-Gates devotes an extensive amount of time and attention to each of the hand-made figures, which seem like they may come alive in front of us. The artist's works of recycled watch parts, including sculptures and jewelry, are available for purchase on Etsy and his online store.
