Pharrell and artist Takashi Murakami have been friends and collaborators on several projects throughout the years. Now, Murakami is preparing for his first exhibition in Japan in 14 years. In honor of the upcoming opening of "The 500 Arhats," Pharrell shared a video of his visit to Murakami's studio to check out his new pieces.
Pharrell is seen trying on many of the artist's wearable creations that were inspired by his colorful 100-meter painting that will be on display later this month. Murakami shares that the inspiration behind his latest oversized mural came from the natural disaster in Japan in 2011. The devastating tsunami and earthquake are captured in his signature monster imagery.
Murakami explored a similar theme in his debut film Jellyfish Eyes that he released last year.

The exhibition will run from Oct. 30 to March 6, 2016 at the Mori Art Museum in Japan.
