There's no doubt that the Burberry show has become a staple of London Fashion Week; however, this season’s event is especially notable because it marks a new era for the 162-year-old fashion house.

Today, Riccardo Tisci will present his first-ever Burberry runway show as the label’s chief creative officer. The Italian designer officially took on the role back in March, replacing U.K. native Christopher Bailey.

Tisci’s appointment was equal parts surprising and exciting. As many in the industry know, Burberry has rarely strayed from British classics and has been generally propelled by its assortment of plaid button-ups, its plaid scarves, and, of course, its plaid trench coats. Consumers and industry insiders have been eager to see how Tisci would apply his high-end streetwear touch to a label so deeply steeped in heritage.

We saw what he did during his time at Givenchy, taking the house to new heights with gothic-inspired pieces that became a favorite amongst many celebrities, including his biggest champion Kanye West. The co-sign played a huge role in Tisci's surge in popularity, and was followed by several major career milestones, including a partnership with Nike.
