2020 is a big year for Alexandre Mattiussi, as it marks nine years since he founded the Parisian label AMI. Though isn't typically a milestone anniversary, the designer says the No. 9 has special, personal significance.
"It’s not really a superstition, but the number nine keeps appearing in my life, since I was a kid," Mattiussi told WWD during Paris Fashion Week. "When there’s nine somewhere, I’m happy."
In celebration of the anniversary, AMI presented its Fall/Winter 2020 show at Le Trianon concert hall in Paris earlier this month. The collection of men- and womenswear adhered to the label's signature formula of androgynous Parisian style—fusing head-turning, theatrical pieces, like sequins rollnecks and ruffled shirts, with everyday wardrobe items like washed denim and graphic knits.
