Google recently released their list of the 20 most searched costumes for the year to date. Many costumes that we tend to see year in and year out made the list, such as Batman and Minnie Mouse. The list shows that the broad search for "Star Wars" is currently this year's most popular idea, but Google does not specify which character is the sole standout. One major positive detail to note is the lack of any racially insensitive costume ideas on the list, like the Little Amigo costume pulled earlier this month from Wal Mart, or any sort of "Native American-inspired" costume.

Harley Quinn, the popular female Batman villain, may be the most surprising result on the list. Quinn came in fourth place overall across the country, and she turned out to be the most searched costume idea in many major U.S. metropolitan areas. She was the most searched costume idea in New York, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia, and the second most searched in Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta.
