Virgil Abloh's ascent up the fashion ladder happened pretty quickly, maybe not Vetements-fast, but it's not like the man who started as Kanye West's creative director toiled for long. Abloh started with Pyrex Vision before launching his Off-White label, which now has a store in Tokyo and collaborates with massive brands like Levi's and Moncler.

However, Abloh still has grander ambitions and revealed them during a conversation with Elle UK Friday. "My goal is to creative direct a big house at the Saint Laurent level," Abloh said. "It's exciting for me to say that out loud." Unfortunately for Abloh, the vacancy left behind at Saint Laurent by its former creative director Hedi Slimane was just filled by Anthony Vaccarello.

Abloh also speaks on the lifecycle of streetwear in the interview. "The thing people have to understand is that streetwear lives and dies," he said. "It flares up and then it goes away because streetwear is so of its time." Abloh said that we are currently in the "post-streetwear movement," which he said includes himself and designers Heron Preston and Matthew Williams of Alyx.
