The annual CFDA awards were held Monday night in New York and Beyoncé took home the organization's Fashion Icon award. The CFDA doesn't announce a fashion icon every year, but the organization couldn't resist giving the award to Queen Bey for 2016.

Skateboard P officially earns his "fashion icon" status from the CFDA.
Beyoncé was introduced by designer Diane von Furstenberg who said the Lemonade singer was "everything all women want to be." She added, "The image of a woman in charge has never looked more glamorous or desirable."
In her acceptance speech, Bey embraced what von Furstenberg said and referenced a Game of Thrones character. "For as long as I can remember fashion has been a part of my life," Beyoncé said. "When I wore these clothes on stage I felt like Khaleesi."
Past winners of the award include Pharrell, Rihanna, and Johnny Depp, in 2015, 2014, and 2012 respectively. No one was deemed worthy of the award in 2013.
Others who walked away with hardware from 2016's CFDA awards include the brand Orley, which won the Swarovski Award for emerging talent for men's; Thom Browne, winner of Menswear Designer of the Year; and Marc Jacobs, Womenswear Designer of the Year. Thom Browne beat out the likes of Public School, Tim Coppens, and Todd Snyder. Orley was selected over John Elliott and Gypsy Sport.
