By now you've heard that Lady Gaga and performance artist Marina Abramovic are close friends and long-term collaborators, but you probably don't know how deep their connection really is. Beyond the ArtRave collaboration, appearing together at Robert Wilson's benefit, etc., the artists have spent time together away from the cameras and Abramovic has definitely changed Gaga's life. In an interview with Attitude, Gaga revealed that Abramovic got her to cut back her habit of smoking 15 joints a day through a one-on-one art cleanse. Gaga had been smoking more and more to alleviate the pain from her hip surgery. Abramovic took the pop goddess to her house and put her on a strict three-day art diet, "no television, no computer, no marijuana, no nothing, no food...only art." Gaga clarified that it was not intended as rehab, but that Abramovic "helped her become less dependent." After going weeks without sparking up she did go back to recreational use but is done using marijuana "to cope." Who knew art was so powerful?
