Founded in 2015 by Samuel Ross, A-COLD-WALL* has grown quickly to become one of the UK’s most esteemed streetwear labels.

Created by the Virgil Abloh protége as a response to the British social climate and its sartorial relationship, each collection is characterised by a unique sense of technical and functional expertise—a powerhouse combination that appears to get stronger every season. For SS22, Ross returns unleashing a line which he describes as “conceptual garments, steeped in functionality, which then oscillate, or integrate with ready-to-wear forms.” Unlike ACW’s pragmatic pre-collections, SS22 is instinctively emotional, serving as a sartorial meditation on mortality.

“I was thinking about mortality, about life being something fleeting, and that brought up some ideas around primary colours intensified and amplified,” Ross told British Vogue, “this spirit of life in the green, the yellows, the oranges. Just being around my daughter introduced the idea of youthfulness and play.”

This influence is seen through an exploration of colour theory, while the brand’s signature hardware style has been further developed to offer quality-focused garments via a “continuous refinement through form and fabrication.” Filtered with a refined perspective and driven by utility, notable pieces include a Gradient Merino Knit and eye-catching orange Form Gilet, as well as a Dual Texture Shirt in yellow and grey. Rounding out the collection is a series of exaggerated scarves, oversized ponchos, and a flurry of tote and sling bags.
