For an exercise in collaboration and experimentation, New York-based artist Matt Willet and SHUT Skateboards decided to make a gold-plated skateboard at electroplating and metal finishing company where Willet's father works, Epner Technology.

Willet and his father processed a deck and the other parts of the board with the same techniques and science used to plate components for NASA at the Epner facility. The result was a $15,000 work of art that is not skate-able, but would look damn good on your wall on mantle piece.
