French photographer and street artist JR has literally covered cities across the globe in his black-and-white portraits, turning the urban fabric into a kind of enormous gallery for his "Inside Out" project. After stopping in Times Square last year to decorate the streets with printed photographs, the artist is is back in New York. This time, he's taking on Lincoln Center.

As part of the New York City Ballet Art Series, JR has created works to accompany special performances. JR's contribution to Lincoln Center will include pasted photographs—his signature medium—of the ballet dancers. In the video above, JR talks about his project, and the camera follows him as he photographs the dancers and creates his images.

Last year, the NYCB invited FAILE to create works for their Art Series. The Brooklyn-based street art duo installed a giant tower of painted blocks in Lincoln Center for a project called "Les Ballets De Faile."

Tickets to JR's Art Series are $29 for performances on Jan. 23, Feb. 7, and Feb. 13.
